Dr.Koval is an innovator in the field of orthodontically-driven mandibular advancement combined with MARPE expansion that provides an alternative option for treatment of Obstaructive Sleep Apnea in adults. This approach was developed by dr.Koval as a combination of orthodontic mandibular advancement that provides lifelong effect and is achievable in both growing kids and adult patients. Dr.Koval`s MARPE treatment planning is unique in that it specifically accounts for individual patient anatomy, for subsequent mandibular movements and their direction.
Dr.Koval`s exclusively developed protocols for pediatric airway development include early intervention starting 3.5-4 year old with maxilalry skleetal development in children who suffer from Sleep Disordered Breathing, sleep bruxism, snoring, and obstructive sleep apnea in children and adults.

Dr. Svitlana Koval - Inventor of Guided Midpalatal Piezocorticotomy for MARPE Treatment
I. Educational Background and International Specialization Dr. Koval possesses a robust history of formal medical and dental education, distinguished by the following milestones:
2007: Graduated Valedictorian from Odessa State Medical University Dental School.
2010: Awarded a Master of Science and a Specialty Degree in Orthodontics from Odessa State Medical University.
Specialized Training (Munich): During her residency, Dr. Koval completed advanced training at Munich University (Department of Orthodontics) focused on the treatment of patients with Cerebral Palsy and Down Syndrome.
Specialized Training (London): In 2012, Dr. Koval underwent specific training in Orthotropics in London under the mentorship of Professor John Mew and Dr. Mike Mew.
2020 (United States): Obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the Boston University School of Dental Medicine.
II. Advanced Clinical Qualifications and ResearchDr. Koval is a recognized researcher and author with specialized training in occlusion, TMJ disorders, and craniofacial development:
Direct Printed Aligners (Graphy): Dr. Koval possesses extensive knowledge of direct 3D-printing technologies and currently serves in an Opinion Leadership role regarding the adoption and clinical application of the Graphy Direct Printed Aligners technique.
Lingual Orthodontics & Incognito™ System: Dr. Koval is certified in the Incognito™ Lingual Braces System, having completed multiple advanced trainings in 2010 and 2015. Additionally, she studied Lingual Orthodontics in Japan and Korea, and successfully completed the written and clinical examinations to become an Active Member of the European Society of Lingual Orthodontics (2015).
The Pankey Institute (2016): Dr. Koval is a Pankey Alum, having completed extensive training at the prestigious Pankey Institute focused on the diagnosis and treatment of TMJ and TMD disorders.
T-Scan & DTR Therapy: Recognized Opinion Leader for T-Scan applications; Certified in Disclusion Time Reduction (DTR) therapy, a conservative modality for treating Trigeminal Neuralgia and Ménière’s disease.
Publications: Author of multiple peer-reviewed articles and a book chapter on "T-Scan Digital Occlusal Analysis in Orthodontics" (published in the Handbook of T-Scan Applications, 3rd Edition, 2024).
Current Research: Serves as Principal Investigator for the MARPEFACE project, researching the effects of MARPE and FME on Sleep Disordered Breathing.
Harvard Medical School: Currently enrolled in the Postgraduate Program (2025) to further augment research in medical-dental applications.
III. Current Scope of Practice and LicensureDr. Koval operates a private practice established in 2023, located in her new facility as of November 2024.
Clinical Focus: Her primary scope of practice is the treatment of Sleep Disordered Breathing and Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) through facial orthopedics and upper airway development.
Board Status: Dr. Koval holds the status of Diplomate in Dental Sleep Medicine.
Innovations: She is the inventor of the novel 3D-guided midpalatal piezocorticotomy-assisted MARPE approach.
