What to expect from my MARPE journey?
Congratulations! You have started your MARPE treatment with DrKoval Orthodontics. What to expect now? Our protocols are unique and no like any other. We combine individually-crafted treatment for every patient with our most advanced technologies of custom-made MARPE expanders and aligners. All materials (alloys, aligner thermoplastic or direct printed resins) are FDA cleared and approved for long-term use in a salivary environment of the patient mouth. We put utmost care and time in selecting materials that are safe for both children and adults. All materials that we use have passed so-called cytotoxicity testing successfully. This means that human body cells were shown to survive in the presence of small particles of the material at the rate of 100% with no exceptions. Innovative technologies that we utilize have shown more biocompatibility than any other on the market.
Our philosophy is to combine what is most effective and efficient for our patients. Dr. Koval`s more than 15 years of professional experience and research background have made a unique combination that benefits patients.
Aligner treatment shows more features that are successfully combined with MARPE treatment than fixed appliance therapy mechanics. Our experience with Aligner customization is used to perform bone expansion of the maxillary base without limitations of jaw-jaw mismatch. We rely on aligner therapy to match the arches even after 10-12 mm of maxillary base expansion. This is how powerful custom planned treatment with aligners is!
Breathe Easier with custom crafted MARPE expansion
At the heart of our practice is a revolutionary approach to orthodontics – Airway Orthodontics. This approach focuses on moving facial bones around upper airways ensuring enough space within them. We focus on bone structure and craft beautiful healthy smiles around healthy wide upper airways. Our MARPE expansion varies from 4-5 mm to 10-12 mm of maxillary bone separation. Tooth movements on the lower jaw compliment expansion from the early beginning of the treatment. It would be impossible to match expanded maxillary base without out custom-planned aligner therapy.

We collaborate with other health professionals!
Airway Orthodontics is about overall health and releasing genetic ability to develop wide patent airways and healthy body. This is the life-saving feature of our organisms that is above anything else. Oxygen supply is vital for functioning of all body systems. We cannot survive without oxygen for more than 4-5 minutes. With chronic insufficient oxygen supply body develops deformations that tend to compensate for reduced airway size. And, as you might know, upper airway is the most fragile part of our airway passages. Ensuring balanced functioning of the upper airway consists of: proper dimensions (no narrow jaws, no retruded jaws, no crowding etc), proper tongue suctioning mechanism, and proper nasal breathing. Here, at DrKoval Orthodontics, we are committed to fulfill all components of healthy upper airway functioning through our custom-crafted orthodontic treatment protocols, myofunctional therapy, TOTs checking and treatment, and collaborating with other heath professionals to ensure proper staging and monitoring.
